Runners of all abilities are welcome. If you’re relatively slow, you should line up towards the back of the start line and you should stay towards the right-hand side of the course. How often should I drink during the marathon?
Running a marathon in the heat and humidity on Guam requires that you stay hydrated. During the marathon, drink when you’re thirsty, understanding that water, sugars, and electrolytes will help you feel and perform your best. But don't force yourself to drink. Be particularly careful if you expect to run over four hours. Drink less if you begin to get a queasy, sloshy feeling in your stomach. Using a wet sponge to cool off is recommended at each of the aid stations where sponges are available. Each aid station will be manned with personnel that can assist you with heat and hydration issues, if necessary.
How long is the full marathon course open?
The marathon course will be open until 10 a.m. Participants still on the course at this time will be required to move to the sidewalks and obey all traffic signals. The finish line will close 7 hours after the start of the race. Please note that participants who cross the marathon finish line after 10:00am will not be recognized as official finishers and are not guaranteed a medal or a finishing time. The course cut-off time will be 7 hours from the start of the Marathon. Runners must reach the turnaround for the marathon at the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center in Sumay within 4 hours from the gun start.
Is the marathon a Boston Qualifier?
